Parnaso Quartet

Augusto Pacheco Carlos David Gonçalo Pires de Morais Paulo Andrade

The Parnaso Guitar Quartet was formed in 2010 and emerged from the initiative of the guitarist Augusto Pacheco, with the purpose of creating a type of instrumental formation that, although it’s common abroad, it’s unusual in Portugal.

Each element from the Quartet, besides graduating from Superior Music Schools in Portugal, continued their specialization abroad. Their great personal and musical complicity, associated with a high-level of teaching and chamber music experience, contains essential values and fundamental human qualities and techniques for making music of excellence.

The Quartet presents a repertoire that goes through different periods of Music History, with special emphasis on the nationalist composers – Rimsky-Korsakov and Piotr Tchaikovsky - through transcriptions of orchestral pieces, but also pieces originally composed for guitar quartet, mainly Roland Dyens.

Since its foundation, Parnaso Guitar Quartet has performed in several national stages such as Rivoli, Auditório de Gaia, Cine-Teatro Eduardo Brasão among others. They also performed at 2012 Sernacelhe International Guitar Festival and Santo Tirso Guitar Cycle - Seis Cordas Seis Momentos. They have recently performed at Guimarães, inserted in Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture.
