Undeniable Nuno Pinto’s artistry, combining a wide range of classical and contemporary instrumental techniques with a willingness to participate in more experimental music creation.

Nuno Pinto studied clarinet with Saul Silva, António Saiote, Michel Arrignon and Alain Damiens, in Portugal and France. He also attended master classes with Guy Dangain, Walter Boeykens, Howard Clug, Robert Fontaine and Alois Brandhofer.

He has devoted a great deal of his work to chamber music and contemporary music, having worked with numerous musicians and groups. He is a founding member of the Camerata Senza Misura, Trivm de Palhetas and Clarinetes Ad Libitum groups and is also a member of the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble and OrchestrUtopica, as well as playing duo with pianist Elsa Silva.

As a soloist or in ensemble, he premièred more than a hundred works by sixty composers and composers such as Cândido Lima, Luís Tinoco, Sérgio Azevedo, Ricardo Ribeiro, Telmo Marques, Virgílio Melo and Miguel Azguime have dedicated him their music. 

He was soloist with the Orquestra Clássica do Porto, Orquestra do Norte, OrchestrUtopica, Porto Soloists, Chamber Orchestra of Cascais and Oeiras, Musicare Chamber Orchestra, Artave Orchestra, European Medical Students Orchestra and Portuguese Symphonic Band. He also collaborated with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra and Oporto National Orchestra.

One of the most international Portuguese musicians, he has participated in several International Music Festivals in Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, England, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Brazil, United States, China and Japan.

His discography includes 17 albums with recordings in areas as diverse as contemporary music, chamber music, ensemble, world music and jazz. It is worth mentioning the recording of several works by Portuguese composers, some of them unpublished and/or in first edition, for clarinet solo and for clarinet and piano, such as the 2016 “Tempo de Outono" disc with pianist Elsa Silva (Artway Records), considered one of the best records of the year by the newspaper Público.

He is a professor of clarinet and chamber music at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo, in Oporto, and holds a doctorate in clarinet and electronics.
