WHO WE ARE
Artway was created in 2011 based on the highest standards of artistic demand and quality. Proving to be a strong driver of Portuguese classical music in Europe, Artway represented Portugal in the European Association of Artistic Agents (Casa da Cultura da Europa, Brussels), being the first Portuguese institution to do so, since the creation of this association in 1947. As an entity dedicated to cultural management, artistic management and the production and publishing of records, throughout its more than 12 years of existence, Artway has strived to create trusting relationships with musicians, cultural institutions and municipalities, integrating programming networks, in order to develop a mutual aid mechanism that can value and strengthen artistic work, particularly in the area of classical music. It develops activity not only in the area of music, but, through collaborations in multidisciplinary projects, it encompasses other artistic areas such as literature, theater and dance. In a logic of decentralization, Artway has been involved in carrying out diverse artistic productions, in a consistent and regular manner, with the intention of training and promoting an increase in audiences from Bragança to Portimão, passing through Madeira and the Azores, and also outside Portugal in countries such as Brazil, Spain, France, Hungary and the United Kingdom.
Among the vast cultural production, the following projects stand out: Bridging Musical Heritage (Creative Europe 2022 - 2024); Temporada Artway 2023/2024; Festival Província Sonora; BEYRA Laboratório Artístico/Ensemble Orquestral da Beira Interior; International Clarinet Studio; Podcast Efeitos Colaterartes; Showcase @; Viajando e rindo com Mozart; Suggia e Casals - a paixão e a música; Mozart Concert Arias - Un moto di Gioia, de Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker/CNB no Teatro Municipal Rivoli (Porto, 2014). The most renowned Portuguese musicians trust Artway: António Pinho Vargas, António Rosado, Carlos Azevedo, Carlos Caires, Daniel Bernardes, Filipe Quaresma, João Barradas, Luís Tinoco, Mário Costa, Miguel Borges Coelho, Miquel Bernat, Nuno Côrte-Real, Nuno Inácio, Nuno Pinto, Pedro Burmester, Pedro Lima, Capella Sanctae Crucis, Clarinetes Ad Libitum, Concerto Campestre, Drumming GP, Ensemble Darcos, L'Effetto Ensemble, Livia & Fred, Maat Sax Quartet, O Bando de Surunyo. Musicians with whom we collaborate in the context of artistic career management, project management, record publishing and with whom we are proud to have a professionally stimulating and very rewarding relationship on a personal and human level.
With regular collaborations with the most prominent national cultural institutions (CCB, Casa da Música, Metropolitana, EGEAC, Culturgest, among others), Artway has been involved in commissioning several works from Portuguese composers, as well as in the extremely important recording of this heritage in editions record labels that have become a reference, through their labels Artway Records and Artway Next. In this domain, a catalog of more than two dozen titles has provided a significant expansion of the national repertoire record (with a considerable number of first recordings of unpublished repertoire), which proves to be a fundamental material and immaterial heritage to preserve the cultural production and record it for posterity. All this work has found an echo in the most important media outlets such as Antena 2 Público, Expresso, Jornal de Letras, SIC and RTP, but also in the international context, namely in reference communication spaces such as Radio France, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone Magazine, Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln (WDR), among many others. In the Artway Showcase mentoring program, it has welcomed and accompanied several emerging young people in the area of artistic career management, sharing essential tools for building their professional future.
