Nuno Inácio is an acclaimed Portuguese flautist. Since 2005, he took up the position of principal flautist of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon, Portugal (Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa), having graduated from ESML (Lisbon’s College School of Music) with the maximum classification. Between 1999 and 2002, Nuno was a disciple of the internationally acclaimed flautist, Trevor Wye, in his UK Studio. Furthermore, he holds a Master degree in “Musical Arts” by the University of Lisbon having performed quite extensively as a student in Master Classes led by Herbert Weissberg, Sophie Cherrier, Vicenç Prats, James Galway, William Bennett, Trevor Wye, Jaime Martin and Jacques Zoon. As Soloist, Nuno Inácio has played with the Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra (Co-principale guest between 2000-2005), Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon, ESML Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Professional School of Porto, performing Concertos by: Jolivet, Ibert, QNielsen, Devienne, Mozart, C. Ph. E. Bach, Quantz, Vivaldi, Sérgio Azevedo´s Suite for flute and strings and the Flute Concerto (dedicated to himself). He has also performed in numerous recordings for the National State television and Radio (RTP; RDP), both live and studio. Recently, he was featured in three broadcasted TV programs: “Music Sounds” (Sons da Música), “InMusic” and “Bravo”.

Italy, Germany, France, Spain, England and Denmark are some of the countries in which he has played, besides Portugal, in various types of ensembles, not to mention numerous appearances at International flute Conventions in Spain (AFE) and the UK (BFS)

Some of the awards for his musical achievements are: 1st Prize at the International Competition of Flute “L’ U.F.A.M.”, in Paris, France (1999);

1st Prize in the National Competition “Young Musicians Awards” of the RDP and the “Soloist of the year Prize” (2000) in Portugal. 

He frequently appears at major venues and festivals performing with some of the world’s greatest soloists, such as Volodos, Radu Lupu, R. Flemming, Sokolov, G. Caussé, Antonio Meneses, Augustin Dumay, V. Mulova and Maxim Vengerov among others.

Described as being “… a young flutist with ample and colored tone, excellent technic control and interesting musicality.” – according to the Newspaper Publico, 2005. Nuno has collaborated with PAN Magazine (UK), DaCapo (Portugal) and Muramatsu (Japan). 

He directed several Master Classes in Portugal, Spain, Germany and the UK and currently teaches Flute in the Superior National Academy of Orchestra (ANSO) and Chamber Music in the ESML.
